Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein: Protein concentration in CSF allows evaluating the integrity of the blood brain barrier; high concentrations are generally associated with inflammatory processes. High values are found in patients suff ering from: bacterial meningitis, tuberculosis, brain abscess, stroke, encephalitis and other degenerative processes that cause neurological disease. Urine Protein: Protein concentrations in urine are high in case of kidney damage, as in cases of nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, renal failure and malignant renal tumours. Single test result could not be used to make a clinical diagnosis. It should integrate clinical and laboratory data.
